I'm glad to see an inspector with experience in building and renovations, especially one who offers a professional home inspection and is also a WETT certified inspector!
I inquired with several inspectors about Ontario home inspection services, and Kevin, a WETT certified inspector, provided the best answers to my questions regarding professional home inspection.
I really appreciated how Kevin, a WETT certified inspector, took the time to discuss possible solutions for some structural issues found during the Ontario home inspection.
Very thorough. This great report from a professional home inspection includes insights from a WETT certified inspector!
We could not attend the Ontario home inspection, but the report and Kevin's phone call from the professional home inspection provided us what we needed to make our decision, especially knowing we had a WETT certified inspector involved.
Kevin did a great job keeping things in perspective, simply stating things as they were, much like a thorough Ontario home inspection conducted by a professional home inspection expert or a WETT certified inspector.

DownloadA home inspection is a snapshot of the home at the time of the inspection, essential for anyone considering a property purchase in Ontario. This professional home inspection typically takes 2-3.5 hours, depending on the size and condition of the home. I inspect all readily accessible, visually observable installed systems and components of the home, including the Structure System, Exterior System, Roof System, Plumbing System, Electrical System, Heat System, Fireplaces/Furnaces, Air Conditioning Systems, Interior Systems, Insulation and Vapour Barriers, and Ventilation Systems.
During the Ontario home inspection, I will report on systems and components that have significant deficiencies, are unsafe, or are nearing the end of their service life. The report will also indicate the implications of any deficiencies or hazards that are not self-evident, along with recommended actions to take. Additionally, I will note any limitations to the inspection process (e.g., if a garage is locked or if the interior could not be observed).
It is my duty to provide an honest account of the conditions observed in the home while conducting myself in a professional and courteous manner. It is important to understand that I provide a professional opinion, not a guarantee, warranty, or insurance policy regarding the property conditions.
The ultimate goal of the home inspection is to equip the client with knowledge of the current conditions of the home, enabling them to make an informed decision. As a WETT certified inspector, I ensure that every aspect of the property is thoroughly examined.

WETT Inspections are often required for home insurance. The inspection will provide a written report on the condition of the system and any deficiencies. They should be conducted regularly to make sure the system meets current standards.

Most inspections occur around the time of purchase, either to provide peace of mind that the home will not have unexpected costs or safety concerns or for insurance purposes. Some sellers even opt for a professional home inspection to become aware of potential issues and adjust accordingly, either by price or by correcting the issue.
Another important consideration is to have a home inspection after you have lived in your house for a number of years. Things can deteriorate and may go unnoticed for years; there might even be issues you never knew existed, but addressing them could significantly improve your home's living conditions. I did not have an inspection when I purchased my home, but I conducted one with a WETT certified inspector after living in my home for 8 years.
